The mythological skit is based on the work of popular poet Bodducharla Chenna Krishnama Kavi, who penned a mini-epic on Alampuram temple and Lord Balabrahmeswara. The poet gave a descriptive account of Alampuram town and temples 200 years ago.

Vangipuram Murali, a journalist based in Wanaparthy in Mahabubnagar district, strived for three years to adapt the mini-epic for stage, spending around Rs. 1.75 lakhs.

The art form was first staged at Mahabubnagar on February 8, which was followed by second performance at Hyderabad on March 5.

The third show is planned at Kurnool. Aswani, Avani and 20 other artistes will perform on the stage. Mr. Murali said each performance cost Rs. 30,000.
