ERODE: More than one lakh men and women with their children participated in the annual kundam (fire-walking) festival at Bannari Amman Temple on Tuesday. The chief temple priest first walked over the simmering fire. Women walked over the kundam with their children. The ritual, which started at 4 a.m. ended by 2 p.m. The police had made elaborate arrangements for the festival. The volunteers rescued two women and two men, who fell into the fire.
