Many join Id processions in Hubli, Dharwad cities

CELEBRATIONS: Muslims taking out a procession at Durgadbail in Hubli on Tuesday.

HUBLI: Thousands of Muslims participated in Id processions in the twin cities on Tuesday as part of the Id-Milad celebrations.

While the Id procession began at Gousha Madarsa in Hubli, it took off from the Anjuman-e-Islam building in Dharwad.

The processions passed through the thoroughfares of the twin cities before ending in public meetings. Religious heads and Muslim leaders addressed the meetings.

Vehicles

Decorated vehicles with green flags were part of the processions.

People held banners with slogans praising Prophet Mohammad on them.

They also shouted slogans praising the Prophet and emphasising the importance of preserving moral values.

In Hubli, former Ministers A.M. Hindasageri and Jabbar Khan Honnalli and several <129>leaders took part in the procession.

Moulana Zahiruddin and Moulana Mohammad Ali led the processions and delivered discourses. Id-e-Milad is celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Prophet.
