Carrying on with poll victory margins

The registration number of the white ambassador car 8693 has a connection with the political life of Sebastian Paul, MP.

So does his new mobile number 98950 70099.

When Dr. Paul bought a white ambassador car after winning the 1997 by-election to the Parliament from Ernakulam, he insisted on having the registration number 8693 for the car.

For him, the four-digit number was much more than the registration number.

It was the margin that the electorate gave him in the keenly contested election.

It was also the first major political battle that he had won. Dr. Paul defeated Congress leader Antony Isaac in that election.

The mobile number 70099 also indicates another major victory in the political battle for Dr. Paul and the Left Democratic Front in the constituency, which is considered as a Congress stronghold.

In the last Parliament election, Dr. Paul defeated Edward Edezhath by an impressive margin of 70,099 votes.

Unique are his ways of celebrating the poll battles and reminding himself of the responsibilities people have placed on him.
