Painting contest

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: A painting contest, Chitrolsavam - 2006, for children on nature was organised by the Green World Village on its premises on the banks of the River Poonoor, near here.

The idyllic setting provided the inspiration to more than 300 participants to create diverse watercolours on nature.

The paintings comprised tree-filled landscapes, rivers, mountains ranges, and streams.

The students were divided into five groups comprising kindergarten, lower primary, upper primary, high school and higher secondary sections. The organisers said Chitrolsavam would be conducted every year.

Artists Paul Kallanode and J.R. Prasad, Kakkodi grama panchayat president Siraj, councillor Anil Kumar among others participated in the inaugural session.

As many as 60 selected paintings will be showcased at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery here from April 17 to 19.

All India Radio Station Director C.P. Rajasekharan will be the chief guest at the inauguration on April 17.

Prizes will be distributed to the winners and certificates to all participants on the day.
