MYSORE: Qualifier Varun Sathyarayana of Karnataka registered an upset win over fifth seeded State-mate N. Pruthvika 10-6 and entered the quarterfinals in the boys Under-14 singles in the AITA Talent Series Tennis tournament for juniors here on Tuesday. In another upset, last leg under-16 winner, Vikas Hansoge was shown the door by wild card entrant Karan Bikkannacar. Karan registered a 10-7. In the boys under-16 singles, Vibhav M Iyengar, second-seeded M.D. Shreyas,third-seeded C.M. Kiran and fourth seeded H.J. Prajwal (all of Karnataka), registered easy wins over their rivals to enter the quarterfinals. In the girls under-14 and under-16 sections, top-seeded V. Nayanatara of Andhra Pradesh and second seeded Rachana R Gowda of Karnataka won their respective matches in both the sections to enter the last eight stage of the tourney. In the girls' under-12 section, top-seeded Spoorthi Shivalingiah and second seeded Likitha Shetty (both of Karnataka) won their matches easily to sail into the last eight stage of the tourney. Other results: Boys under-14 singles: C.M. Kiran (Kar) bt Aasad Jaffer 10-4 (Kar). Chirag S. Igoor (Kar) bt Hemanth Kumar 10-2 (Kar). M.D. Akash (Kar) bt Dheerajkumar 10-9. Boys' under-12: Rishab (AP) bt Haricharan (Kar) 8-3. Sourabh Sachdeva (AP) bt Himanshu Sagar (TN) 8-5.
