Centre serious about copyright enforcement, says official

The copyright enforcement advisory council has been reconstituted

CHENNAI: The Centre is serious about the enforcement of copyrights, and it has reconstituted the copyright enforcement advisory council (CEAC) with the Secretary, Education, as its chairman, Registrar of Copyrights Madhukar Sinha said on Tuesday.

The council was earlier headed by an Additional Secretary, he said, addressing at a meeting on "the proposed amendments to the Copyright Act, 1957," organised here by the South India Music Companies Association (SIMCA). Earlier, a speaker said the laws in the country were excellent, but what was needed was strict enforcement.
