ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday alleged that the Indian Coast Guard has killed one of its fishermen in `unprovoked' firing on March 18. Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam told reporters that an official of the Indian High Commission was summoned and a formal protest lodged on the incident. Ms. Aslam said a Coast Guard vessel, backed by a helicopter, attacked the Pakistani fishing boat in Pakistani waters on March 18. "We have protested to the Indian Government over this provocative act in which one fisherman's life has been lost," she said. This is the second incident of its kind in the last one and half months, she said and hoped that such incidents would not recur. Asked as to why Pakistan took so long to lodge a protest, she said it took time for information to percolate to the Foreign Office.
