TIRUPATI : Minister for Panchayat Raj and Endowments J.C. Diwakar Reddy has said the Congress Government is committed to completing the massive `Jalayagnam' scheme despite the obstacles being created by the Opposition. Participating in the Praja Patham programme at Thukivakam village near here, he said the Galeru-Nagari and the Handri-Neeva irrigation projects would change the face of the entire Anantapur and Chittoor districts known for their perennial drought. Mr. Reddy said the Government was keen on using the `Indiramma' programme to meet all basic needs of villages in the next three years. The Praja Patham was specifically conceived to send official teams to every village to identify their needs and find a way-out to meet them in the next three years. The Minister later distributed ex gratia to the next of the kin of the DWCRA members who died in accidents recently.
