KADAPA: The Government was evolving Legal Aid Programme for Land (LAPL) under Indira Kranthi Patham to extend legal aid to poorer sections and resolve their land disputes through village courts, Principal Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development K. Raju said on Tuesday. Mr. Raju who toured Tangutur and Adapur villages in Nandalur mandal, said he was visiting various districts to assess the extent of disposal of land disputes in courtspendency. Village courts would resolve land disputes with aid from Indira Kranthi Patham, Mr. Raju stated.
Dalits' complaints
At Tangutur, 40 Dalit families complained that 19 acres of land on which they had built houses was locked in a dispute and a case was pending in Nandalur Junior Civil Judge court. At Adapur, Dalits said that they faced problems in grazing cattle and constructing latrines due to a land dispute. Mr. Raju instructed Rajampet RDO Y. Ramachandra Reddy to resolve the issue. Thirty-three lakh job cards were issued under A.P. Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the State and works had commenced at several places, Mr. Raju said. He inspected maintenance of muster roll of workers and disbursement of wages on weekends. He gave away pension sanction letter to aged persons and widows. IKP State Project Manager B. Viziendira, Special Collector Karuna, LAPL State Coordinator Sumil Kumar, incharge Collector Kanthilal Dande, project directors P. Easwara Reddy (DWMA) and Hariprakash (DRDA), Nandalur MRO Kodandaraman and MPDO Srinivasulu took part.
