KURNOOL: A sloth bear killed two persons, including a forest official, in the Nallamala forest near Mahanandi in Kurnool district on Tuesday. According to reports, Tirupathi, 21, went into the forest to tend cattle. Around noon, he got into a pond for water when the sloth bear attacked and killed him on the spot. On learning about the incident, relatives of the victim went into the forest and brought home the body. They also alerted forest officials of the bear attack. Accordingly, a team of forest personnel headed by deputy ranger Ramachandra Reddy, went into the forest. The bear attacked them too. It pounced on Mr. Reddy and injured him. Others, including two forest personnel, ran away from the spot and the reported the matter to the police.
