Advani's yatra: BJP makes light of Congress, Left criticism

Special Correspondent

Bandaru Dattatreya and other leaders release yatra posters

HYDERABAD : Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday made light of the Congress and the Left parties' criticism of the party leader L. K. Advani's `Bharat Suraksha Yatra' and said the `yatra' was intended to highlight the dangers posed by terrorist and anti- national forces to the unity of the country.

Addressing a press conference, B. Dattatreya, secretary of the BJP, said during his five-day visit to the State from April 15 to 19, as part of the `yatra', Mr. Advani would focus on the fact that Hyderabad now became the hub of terrorist activity mainly because of the `negligent attitude' of the UPA Government at the Centre and the Congress Government in the State.

Along with State BJP leaders -- N. Indrasena Reddy, S.V. Seshagiri Rao, G. Kishen Reddy and K. Laxman -- Mr. Dattatreya released posters of the `yatra' and a public meeting to be held in Hyderabad on April 18.

They were also critical of the TDP for the way it was competing with the Congress in wooing minorities.
