YSR raps MLAs on Praja Patham

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Irked by the poor response to the ongoing Praja Patham and the meagre attendance of the ruling party legislators, Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy has directed all the Congress MLAs to attend the programme without fail.

Reviewing the programme here on Tuesday, Dr. Reddy reportedly asked his party MLAs to make their presence at the programme to elicit feedback from the people on issues like drinking water shortage and irregular power supply.

Other programmes taken up by the Government like distribution of ration cards and welfare measures have also run into problems.

The MLAs were asked to interact with the people.

The Chief Minister was informed by the officials that only 71.10 per cent participation of MLAs was observed in the State. Out of 185 Congress MLAs, nearly 50 did not take part on flimsy reasons.

Sources said that Dr. Reddy urged the legislators to ensure that welfare measures reached all beneficiaries properly.
