BELLARY: Regional Transport Office (RTO) here has exceeded its target in the collection of revenue for 2005-06. As against the target of collecting Rs. 11.23 crores, the RTO collected Rs. 12.70 crore, registering an achievement of 113.08 per cent. During the checking drive, 4,178 vehicles were checked and 957 cases booked. Similarly, 182 cases were registered against vehicles for air pollution and a fine of Rs. 1.05 lakh was imposed, according to an official press release. During the year, the RTO had registered 9,959 vehicles of which 962 were mopeds, 6,071 scooters and motorcycle, 424 cars, 281 jeeps, 683 tractors, 415 trailers, 782 goods carrying vehicles, 91 buses, 28 maxi-cabs, 67 motor cabs, 124 autorickshaws and 21 other vehicles. The RTO has issued permits to 1,012 transport vehicles and 341 autorickshaws. New driving licences were issued to 7,094 people and 169 conductor licences besides renewing driving licences of 3,642 people.
