Setback to BJP in Mahabubnagar

Many party workers join Telugu Desam

    MAHABUBNAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a big blow in the district following the joining of its former Member of Parliament from Mahabubnagar A.P.Jitendar Reddy along with thousands of his followers in Telugu Desam in the presence of TDP President N.Chandra Babu Naidu at a public meeting at Zilla Parishad mini stadium this evening.

    Kodangal constituency in-charge Punam Chand Lahoti, Alampoor constituency in-charge B.Satya Reddy,Wanaparthy constituency in-charge Bheem Reddy,Pedda Mandadi Mandal President Hemalatha and several functionaries of BJP mandal units joined Telugu Desam along with Jitender Reddy.

    Most significantly as many as 26 functionaries of Mahila Morcha district unit, a womens wing of the BJP, Party Dairy Cell State President Buruju Rajender Reddy, former Municipal Chairperson of Gadwal Akkala Rama Devi, BJP state executive member Akkala Murali and seven candidates who unsuccessfully contested in the last municipal elections also threw in their lot with the TDP. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu welcomed all of them and exhorted them to work for the party in the forthcoming Panchayat elections. Criticizing the BJP Mr. Naidu said that when political parties are in power they speak a different tongue than when they are out of power.

    He said BJP when in power for six years did not speak of separate Telangana and is now making hue and cry about it. ``We are all Telugu speaking people and let us strive for the development of a united Andhra Pradesh,'' Mr Naidu said. Mr Jitender Reddy said that he joined TDP as BJP was facing an ideological crisis.
