KOLLAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday questioned the logic behind the support extended by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the LDF in the Assembly elections. Addressing an election meeting in support of the UDF candidate from Kollam Babu Divakaran, the Chief Minister said the previous LDF had gone on record claiming credit for the arrest of PDP leader Abdul Nasir Maudany. The PDP's decision to extend support to the LDF sounds confusing, he said. He claimed that the UDF Government had made all-out efforts to secure Mr. Maudany's release from jail. He said the LDF seemed to be under the impression that development projects could be stalled by raising baseless corruption allegations. Mr. Chandy said the shortcomings, if any, of the Smart City project would be rectified. But there will be no going back on the project. In spite of constant hurdles put up by the LDF against the development projects, the UDF Government had ensured that State achieved a growth rate of 9.5 per cent, he pointed out.
