ALWAR: The hearing in the Alwar rape case involving a German research student has been completed by a Fast Track court here and the verdict will be made on April 12. According to sources, Additional District and Sessions Magistrate (Fast Track), R. K. Maheswari after hearing counsels of both sides, fixed April 12 as the date for decision.
Witnesses cross-examined
About 16 witnesses out of total 22 were cross-examined by the defence counsel. The hearings went on for about five hours on Monday. The German research student was raped by an MBA student B. H. Mohanty who accompanied her to Alwar last month. The rape took place in a hotel. The victim reportedly first informed her friend in Germany about the incident who in turn informed the German Embassy in Delhi. The police caught Mohanty while he was fleeing by the Inter-City Express the next day. Mohanty is the son of a top police official in Orissa. UNI
