Hyderabad: Speakers at a public meeting here on Tuesday urged Muslims to rise above sectarian differences and shun un-Islamic practices. They were asked to forge good relations with non- Muslims and present a correct picture of Islam. This was the central theme of the `Rahmatul-lil-Alameen' Day observed by the All India Majlise Tamire Millat as part of the birthday celebrations of Prophet Mohammed here on Tuesday. A large number of men and women gathered at the Exhibition Grounds, the venue of the function. Moulana Ashraf Ali Baqavi of Bangalore said there was a remedy for the ills facing humanity in the holy Quran and the teachings of the Prophet of Islam. He threw light on various aspects of the Prophet's life and urged the community to follow it in letter and spirit. Moulana Saud Alam Qasmi of Aligadh Muslim University, also spoke . Moulana Raheem Qureshi, president, Tamire Millat, said it was wrong to link terrorism with Islam. It was a religion of peace and it did not permit killing of innocents, he said.
MIM programme
On Monday night a `Milad-un-Nabi' programme was organised by the Majlise Ittehadul Muslimeen at Darus Salam. Speaking on the occasion, Majlis president, Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, urged Muslims to strictly adhere to the teachings of the Prophet and bury differences. Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed of Jamia Nizamia, said no one could be a true believer unless his love for the Prophet was more than anything else. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, regretted the attempts to tarnish the image of Islam and the Prophet.
