HYDERABAD : Short-term vocational courses of the State Institute of Vocational Education (SIVE) will now be offered in Government junior colleges all over the State on a self-financing basis, according to Regional Joint Director of Education K.V.V. Satyanarayana. The three-module courses were available in 55 private colleges earlier. The first module is for three months, the second for six months and the third module is for a year. There are 57 such courses offered by SIVE, for which students with SSC and Intermediate qualification are eligible. There are also courses for those who failed tenth class and Intermediate. Housewives can also join courses like embroidery, cookery, flower making and beautician. Other courses being offered include apiculture, mushroom culture under agriculture, accountancy, taxation, salesmanship under business and commerce, web-designing and Internet, computer maintenance and MS office under computer science, motor driving and plastic technology under engineering and technology, apparel construction and tie and die under home science. Information about the courses available in colleges can be obtained from the District Vocational Education officer.
