Jaish breakaway group chief killed

Srinagar: Nine persons, including six militants and two policemen, were killed and two security personnel injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir since Monday night, officials said here on Tuesday.

In a major breakthrough, the security forces shot dead the chief of a breakaway group of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, Talabani, and his close aide Zargar in an encounter in the Wadwan valley in Anantnag district, the defence sources said. The two militants were killed after they were tracked by a unit of 7 Rashtriya Rifles and three paratroopers for days in the Pir Panjal range in south Kashmir. — PTI
