HYDERABAD: The Afghanistan Government has invited Indian companies to invest in Kabul as it is in favour of joint ventures between the two countries. Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, who was in the city on Tuesday, assured Indian entrepreneurs that his Government would provide the necessary planning, facilities and other support required. "We want you to pass on the high technology education to us and invest with us," he said. He visited the Cyber Towers to have first hand knowledge about the developments on the Information Technology front. Officials of L&T, the joint promoters of Cyber Towers, made a presentation about the facilities being offered to IT companies coming forward to invest in the State. Describing the developments in India as a welcome sign, he appreciated India for progressing and achieving great heights in a short span of time. "Fortunately, India has the foundation in the high quality and high technology education it has," he said. The country's endeavour to prepare youngsters with its high quality education network had paid off. This apart, the sense of recognising investment potential and attracting the foreign investors was another factor in the strides made by India.
High-level team
Mr. Karzai, who was leading a delegation of Ministers and businessmen from Afghanistan, said the team was "highly impressed" by the strides made here. He later visited the Tata Consultancy Services block where interacted with the senior IT professionals about the opportunities in the IT sector and went to the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA). The delegation accompanying Mr. Karzai included, among others, Afghanistan Foreign Affairs Minister Abdullah Abdullah, Defence Minister, Abdul Rahim Wardak, Higher Education Minister Amirsah Hassanyar, and National Security Advisor Zamil Rasoul.
