KOCHI: Seabourn Spirit, a cruise liner, reached Kochi on Tuesday morning, carrying 195 passengers and 162 crewmembers. The ship arrived here from the Colombo port and set sail for Mumbai in the evening. Sixty passengers went on a tour of tourist locales in Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and Kochi. Thirty went to Alappuzha to have a backwater cruise and 15 went on private visit in Kochi. Two dozen of them flew to Agra and will catch up with the ship in Mumbai. This is the ship's second visit to Kochi. The vessel, which is the fourth to call at Kochi since April 1, was in the news a few months back after it was attacked by pirates near the African coast. It escaped the incident after the captain sped the vessel off into the high seas. In the last financial year, 24 cruise ships called at the Kochi port bringing in over 10,000 high-spending tourists. Apart from tour operators, ground handling agencies, resorts and tour operators gained from their arrival.
