Vishu, Easter programmes on television

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special Vishu and Easter programmes on Surya TV promises to thrill couch potatoes.

The channel begins Vishu day programmes at 6 a.m. with `Konnappookkal', which will be followed by a programme on fusion music. Singer G. Venugopal will be the guest in the morning show, `Ponpulari'.

Enjoy new and popular film songs from the latest Vishu releases, `Rasathanthram', `ThuruppuGulan', `Pachakkuthira' and `Rashtram'. Actor Navya Nair converses with her fans in the programme, `Nakshathra Thilakkavumayi'.

Mohanlal-Priyadarshan combination has never failed to attract viewers. One of their latest movies, `Kilichundan Mambazham' will be telecast at 9.30 a.m. on Surya TV on Vishu day. Actor Meera Jasmin bares her soul in `Mikavinte Sourabhyavumayi'. `Gramaphone', directed by Kamal and starring Dileep, Navya Nair and Meera Jasmin will be telecast at 1 p.m.

Watch Chandramathi and Indulekha -- roles enacted by Urvashi and Mamta Mohandas in the latest Rajasenan movie, `Madhuchandralekha' -- in conversation at 4.30 p.m. It is movie time again as another hit film in the thriller genre, `Sethurama Iyer CBI', will be screened at 5 p.m.

The latest on the newest Vishu films can be seen on `Vishuthira' at 1 p.m. Comedy Time, with Undapakru as guest, at 10.30 p.m.

On April 15, an interview with prominent Tamil actor, Manorama, will be telecast at 9 a.m. Actors Padmini and Sukumari reminisce about their days on film sets in `Madhurikkum Ormmakal'. The movie `Mizhi Randilum' starring Indrajit and Kavya Madhavan follows, at 11 a.m.

Prominent film stars will appear on a show in which they present their favourite songs at 2 p.m. This will be followed by a conversation between singer Gayatri and prominent music director Deepak Dev.

A special programme on the latest Vishu release `Rasathanthram' will be followed by another movie `Ee Snehatheerathu' starring Kunchacko Boban and Jayaprada.

On Easter, Sunday, meet film director Johnny Antony at 10 a.m. The Sunday morning movie will be `Vellithira' starring Prithviraj and Navya Nair.

A special programme on the latest Mammootty film directed by Johnny Antony `Thuruppugulan' will be telecast at 2.30 p.m. Another movie follows, `Chathikkatha Chanthu', starring Jayasurya and Navya Nair

The Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha stations of AIR will relay special programmes on Vishu.

The day begins with a music programme at 5 a.m., `Kanippoovukal' the lyrics of Bharanikkavu Sivakumar set to score by Darshan Raman. A programme based on film music `Vishukkannadi' follows.

Singer Sujatha takes part in a film music-based programme at 11 a.m. The play `Tipu Sultan' written by Jagathy N.K. Achari, with actors Thilakan, Mavelikara Ponnamma playing the key roles, will be re-broadcast at 3.30 p.m.

Two programmes that won credits at the AIR's annual awards, `Jaladarpanam' and `Nilavilikalude Thaarattu', will be aired at 4.30 p.m. A special programme, `Ulsavadeepam', directed by C.P. Rajasekharan Nair will be relayed at 5 a.m. on April 15.
