Man arrested; gold, silver articles seized

Raichur: The Raichur police on Wednesday arrested Sharnappa (40), a native of Rachanalli in Gulbarga district, at the Arabmohalla locality here and recovered stolen articles, including 45 grams of gold and 350 grams of silver ornaments, in all worth Rs. 46,800, from him. He has been remanded in judicial custody.

The police said the accused had committed thefts at three places in the city in the last two months. In February, he took away gold and silver ornaments and some cash from a house located in Arabmohalla locality after breaking open the main door.

In another incident, he had unlocked the shutter of a motorcycle showroom on Chandrakant Road and took away 10 gram gold coin and Rs. 9,000 in cash. A fortnight ago, he entered a house at the IDSMT Layout and after breaking the lock of the main door, took away gold and silver ornaments and cash.
