KOCHI: `Organic Kerala 2006,' an exhibition and a series of discussions and seminars on organic production, food products and healthier way of life, will begin at the Ernakulam Town Hall from next Wednesday. The four-day programme is being organised by Mannira, a charitable society under the Thrikkakara Grama Panchayat Co-operative Hospital, Kakkanadu, with support from Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam, Ashtavaidyan Thaikat Mooss SNA Oushadhasala, Thrissur, IndoCert, Sree Lakshmi Handicraft, Alter Media, Thrissur, Uravu, Wyanad, Keystone, Kottagiri, Sumeni Bio Manure and Bio-Energy Systems and the Organic Farmers' Consortium, Wynad. The Cochin Corporation, Kerala Agriculture University, Coconut Development Board, Spices Board, Coir Board and the Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank are associated with the programme, which will see experts from different areas of organic agriculture delivering lectures. Chairman of the Spices Board C.J. Jose is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. Besides, Chairmen of the Coconut Development Board and Coir Board and the Director of Central Institute of Fisheries Technology will address the various fora. There will also be short and intensive training in organic agricultural practices during the four-day programme, said M.M. Abbas, general convener of the programme.
