Desert Storm rally flagged off
NEW DELHI:
The 4th Maruti Suzuki rally `Desert Storm', carrying a prize fund of Rs. 10 lakhs, was flagged off from the National Stadium here on Wednesday.
There are more than 70 cars in two categories and 18 bikers participating in the rally that will traverse 1,340 km through Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Pushkar, Sambhar before concluding at Jaipur on Sunday.
The rallyists proceeded to Ratangarh near Bikaner for the first night halt before heading deeper into Rajasthan for four days in hot sands, gravel and dry wilderness.
The rally has been sanctioned by the Motorsport Association of India (MAI) and the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), and is a sanctioned event on the FIA calendar. — Sports Reporter
