CHENNAI: About 5,000 candidates were issued hall tickets on the first day of the online registration for the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination, which began throughout the State on Wednesday In Anna University's centre in Chennai alone, 1,200 candidates received the hall tickets.
52 centres
The registration, which will continue until April 28, is being done simultaneously in 52 centres all over the State. In Chennai, the centres functioned at the Centre for Entrance Examinations, Anna University (for zone A); the Madras Institute of Technology, Chromepet (for zone B); Madras Veterinary College, Vepery (zone C); and Bharathi Women's College, Broadway (zone D). The Centre for Entrance Examinations was the hub of activity, as even candidates from other zones arrived here. The university had taken precautions to ensure the registration proceeded smoothly. While 15 terminals were commissioned for the actual registration, four terminals each were set aside for photographing the candidates and issuing hall tickets. "We have deployed trained volunteers to man every terminal. Candidates have been ... instructed to test every data they enter before they complete the registration. Depending on the speed of data entry, hall tickets could take five minutes or more to be issued," A. Jayaraman, Registrar, Anna University, told presspersons.
