Pondicherry: Filing of nominations in Mahe and also in the lone segment in Yanam came to an end on Wednesday. 12 nominations were received for Mahe and a total of 11 candidates have filed nominations in Palloor. The Health Minister of Pondicherry E. Valsaraj (Congress) and the Parliamentary Secretary to the CM, A V Sreedharan are among the candidates who filed the papers in Mahe and Palloor seats respectively. The CPI(M) party candidate T Ashok Kumar and T K Gangadaran were among those who filed papers. There are also contestants sponsored by the BJP, the AIADMK and Independents in Mahe. 21 nominations were received for Yanam. The candidates who filed papers in Yanam included Malladi Krishna Rao (Congress) and former legislator Raksha Harikrishna as well as candidates sponsored by the AIADMK, the BJP and the BSP and a host of Independents. Scrutiny of nominations in Yanam was slated for Thursday and last date of withdrawal is April 15. The scrutiny of nominations for Mahe on April15 and last date for withdrawal is April 17. Poll in Mahe and Yanam regions has been slated for May 3.
