CUDDALORE: It so happens that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader M. Karunanidhi and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhgam general secretary Vaiko will be campaigning in Cuddalore on the same day on Thursday. Their original itinerary is such that it might cross each other at some points in the district: particularly at a stretch between Vadalur and Panruti. It is felt that this would cause embarrassment to both the leaders. Hence, to avert such "an unpleasant encounter" authorities have re-charted the leaders' campaign routes with minor deviations, so they would not come face to face with each other. The convoy of Mr. Karunanidhi will pass through Ulundurpet, Mangalampettai, Vadalur and Panruti before reaching Cuddalore where a public meeting is scheduled at Manjakuppam grounds. The convoy of Mr. Vaiko will travel through Chidambaram, Bhuvanagiri, Sethithope, Maruvai, Kurinjipadi and Kullanchavadi before reaching Cuddalore for a public meeting at Sannathi Street. The police sources said the decision was taken in consultation with the local leaders.
