HYDERABAD: Health Minister K. Rosaiah has said that the cabinet sub-committee would meet on April 17 to finalise the health insurance scheme for the targeted people in the State. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Mr. Rosaiah said organised groups such as thrift societies would be considered for the health insurance scheme, which was already under implementation in Assam. The Kerala Government was also toying with the idea of launching a universal health insurance scheme. The Health Minister reiterated his appeal to junior doctors to call off their strike. There was urgent need to improve medicare in the State. There was threat of the Medical Council of India reducing seats in the teaching hospitals owing to lack of teaching staff.
`False allegations'
Mr. Rosaiah and Minister for Backward Classes Welfare D. Srinivas lashed out at TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu for continuing to level false allegations against the Government on the irrigation projects. The people of the State were witnessing the falsehood spread by Mr. Naidu and his party leaders. Mr. Naidu was bent on obstructing the construction of irrigation projects. Taking objection to Mr. Naidu's allegations that contractors were donating money to naxalites, Mr. Rosaiah said by making such remarks, the TDP chief appeared to be attempting to gain the sympathy of the Maoists. Mr. Srinivas also countered the charge that the present Government had neglected BCs. He said the BC welfare budget had seen highest allocation.
