HYDERABAD: Mala Mahanadu has cautioned Krishna Madiga of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) against provoking Malas during his `padayatra'. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, J. Prabhakar Rao president of the Mala Mahanadu said Mr. Krishna's act of launching the yatra from Amalapuram, where Malas were in majority, is in itself provocative. But the Mala leaders including himself have been prevailing upon the youth of the community in the region to be restraint, he said dubbing the yatra as nothing but an effort to help Telugu Desam. He said the organisation would stage demonstrations before BJP offices all over the State on April 16 and before party leader L. K. Advani's yatra on April 18. This was to protest against Mr. Advani's support to the categorisation of Scheduled Castes. It was strange as the BJP Scheduled Caste leader Suraj Bhan was against division of SCs.
SP leader's support
State president of Samajwadi Party Jagadish Yadav who was present at the press conference offered his party's support to Mala Mahanadu. They said both organisations would work together in safeguarding the rights of the SCs, STs, BCs and Muslims. The decision to appoint a national study group to review the status of Scheduled Castes, was hailed.
