KURNOOL: Minister for Lift Irrigation M. Mareppa visited Khalla area of the Old City on Wednesday as part of Prajapatham. He was accompanied by Mayor S. Raghurami Reddy, MLA M.A. Gafoor and Commissioner K. Venkateswarlu. Mr. Mareppa interacted with the residents, who complained of contamination of drinking water. He discussed the problem with the municipal officials. Later, the Minister interacted with fruit vendors and farmers. He pulled up the staff of Social Welfare Residential school for girls at B. Camp for the unhygienic conditions. A student died of diarrhoea in the hostel recently. He inquired with the students about the diet and other cosmetics supplied to them. He asked the staff to bring the problems to the notice of the higher authorities rather than allowing the conditions to deteriorate.
