Stone laid for entertainment zone

Theatres, shopping mall and theme park planned

GRAND PLAN: MLA Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas laying a foundation stone for the `Eluru Entertainment Zone' at Eluru on Wednesday

ELURU: Local MLA Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas on Wednesday laid a foundation stone for setting up an entertainment zone with private participation near Alluri Sitarama Raju Stadium here.

The project comprising construction of three theatres, a shopping mall, theme park, family restaurants etc has been awarded to a private firm on built, operate and transfer system.

The district administration gave one acre of land adjacent to the stadium for execution of the project on a lease basis.

Tourism promotion

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Lav Agarwal said it was proposed to establish an entertainment zone in the city as part of the Government's thrust on tourism promotion. He expressed the hope that the project would attract entertainment seekers from all over the districtwho were hitherto making pleasure trips to Vijayawada.. Navin Kumar Naraharisetti, spokesman of the firm, said the first phase of the project would become operational in a year.
