GUNTUR: Faced with the problem of tackling 350 tonnes of solid waste generated in the city everyday, the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) had been dumping it in the unauthorised Autonagar area for the past many months. The A.P. Pollution Control Board had issued a notice to stop the dumping. Municipal Commissioner D. Rama Rao said that the district Collector had finalised an 18-acre site in Akkireddypalem on the Chilakaluripet Road. The GMC would be given advance possession of the site soon so that dumping could be done scientifically there.
