CHENNAI: Competition in the mobile telephony sector is making service providers devise unique marketing strategies to stay connected with their customers. The latest to be heard is Reliance Infocomm. To drive home its claim of being the leader in coverage with a superior network, it is all set to ring in a new communication campaign in the State from the Tamil New Year. And what better way to convey this message to the people than by linking it with the State's diverse culture. "Our coverage is the best, next only to the culture of Tamil Nadu," says V.G. Somasekhar, the circle's Chief Executive Officer, Reliance Infocomm Limited. To create the right ambience, senior executives of the company were dressed in sparkling white dhotis and shining silk saris at a press meet on Tuesday. There was a collage of colours at the venue.Apart from associating the coverage with the State's culture, the television commercials and regional advertisement campaign would highlight the infrastructure created by Reliance Infocomm in the last three years to cover 600 towns and 10,000 villages. The company claims to have a subscriber base of 15 lakh, and is confident that the campaign would help draw more customers to its fold. The company has invested Rs.1,500 crore on its operations in Tamil Nadu and is backed by 80,000 km of terabit fibre optic network, Mr. Somasekhar said. Reliance Infocomm, he adds, has completed the second phase of expansion and has started the next phase, under which 110 BTS have been identified to further enhance the coverage quality.
