Canara Bank extends timings

CHENNAI: Canara Bank has introduced 12-hour banking facility at the Velachery and Kancheepuram branches. Customers may transact business from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

During the extended timings (besides the regular timings), operations in SB, term deposits, clearing/ collection of cheques and issue of DD (less than Rs 50,000 for cash and less than Rs 1 lakh against transfer entry) are allowed.

Eye screening camp

The Kannappar free eye screening camp was held at Muthumariamma Koil Street, Medavakkam, on April 12, where 166 patients were screened.

Aero-modelling course

The Hobby Club is conducting an aero-modelling course this summer. Participants will be

taught to build model aeroplanes that actually fly. Anyone above the age of 10 may join.

Classes will be conducted on weekdays for an hour for two weeks. Participants will be supplied with the necessary kits. A course on computer art is also being conducted at the same premises.

Ford staff distribute toys

Udhavum Ulangal, a registered public charitable trust organised a session where Ford Business Service Centre employees distributed toys to children suffering from cancer. The occasion was World Health Day.

Instrumental music camp

Lions Club blood donation camp

Lions Club of Anna Nagar has conducted a blood donation camp at SA Engineering College, Veeraragavapuram, where 417 units of blood were collected.

Awareness programme on data storage

An academic initiative team of IBM launched a TIVOLI REACH programme at Rajalakshmi Engineering College recently at the inauguration of the students branch of the Computer Society of India.

The objective is to create awareness in the data storage and security concerns among the students and give them the basic know-how to learn and effectively take up further studies on these aspects.
