YSR lays stone for Honeywell facility

IT cos told to set up shop in tier-II cities

HYDERABAD: Honeywell Corporation, a US $ 28-billion leading provider of products and solutions for the aerospace industry, has initiated work on its proposed state-of-the-art facility at Nanakramguda on the city outskirts.

Expansion mode

The new facility is expected to house more than 5,000 engineers with a turnover of Rs. 700 crores. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy formally laid the foundation-stone for the first building at a function organised here on Wednesday.

According to Honeywell corporate vice-president and CIO Larry Kittelberger, the Fortune 500 company, employing 4,000 people in its technology solutions laboratory in Bangalore, was expanding its operations and selected Hyderabad owing to the availability of talented manpower and hospitality. The first building of the new campus would have a 50,000 sq.ft built up area and it was expected to be ready by the first quarter of the next financial year. In his brief address, the Chief Minister asked IT companies to expand their operations to tier-II cities like Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Kakinada and Tirupati assuring them the Government would provide more facilities there.
