Bank employees stage dharna

KOCHI: Bank employees under the banner of All Kerala Bank Employees' Federation staged demonstrations at various centres in protest against the Union Government's move to introduce contract work in banking sector.

Demonstrations were organised in front of the branches of various banks such as the State Bank of Travancore, M.G. Road; Canara Bank, Ernakulam South; Punjab National Bank, Ravipuram; Central Bank of India, Pharmacy Junction; and Federal Bank, Marine Drive.

V.J. Johny, C.D. Joson, K.S. Krishna, K. Raghavan, P.R. Suresh, A.V. Pappachan and other leaders of the Federation spoke at the meeting..

Protest demonstrations were also held at Aluva, Angamally, Kalamasserry, Paravur, Thripunithura, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha and other places, according to the employees.
