330 illegal shops sealed

NEW DELHI: Sealing squads of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday targeted 330 illegal shops running from residential areas, taking the total number of commercial establishments sealed so far to 3,894.

The maximum number of 54 shops were sealed in Civil Lines zone, while 52 commercials establishments were targeted in Shahdara-South and another 50 in Sadar Paharganj zone. Similarly, 40 shops were sealed in Karol Bagh, 35 in Central and 34 in Najafgarh zones. Other zones where the action took places were South (20 shops), Rohini (16), Shahdara-North (15) and West (14).

Areas and roads that were covered during the drive included Greater Kailash-I, Yusuf Sarai, Lala Lajpat Rai Market, stretch between Rajouri Garden and Subhash Nagar Chowk, road between Preet Vihar and Madhuban Chowk, Qutab Road to Pul Mithai, Dheerpur, Nirankari Road, Mukherjee Nagar, Veer Savarkar Marg, and stretch between Gurdwara Road and Saraswati Marg, Dabri to Palam railway crossing.

So far, maximum number of sealing have taken place in Karol Bagh zone (795), followed by Civil Lines (492), Rohini (452) and Central (429).

Minor raped, two arrested

NEW DELHI: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly criminally assaulted by her neighbour and his cousin at Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi on Wednesday. The accused have been arrested.

As per the allegation, the girl had left for her school at Karala village when her neighbour, Sudheer, a resident of Rama Vihar in Sultanpuri, came there in a Maruti car along with his cousin, Devender, around 6-45 a.m. He asked her to get inside the vehicle on some pretext. The girl agreed as she knew him well.

They then took her to some place where they allegedly criminally assaulted her. Subsequently, they dropped her near the bus stand in Karala village.

A case has been registered at the Sultanpuri police station.
