Biography released

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A revised edition of the biography of the former head of the royal family of erstwhile Travancore Sri Chithira Tirunal, written by journalist Malayinkeezh Gopalakrishnan, was released at a function at the Kowdiar Palace here on Wednesday. Titled `Sri Chithira Tirunal - Avasanathe Ezhunnallathu,' the book is published by State Bank of Travancore (SBT). SBT managing director Om Bhatt handed over a copy of the book to Pooyam Tirunal Gowri Parvathi Bai of the royal family to mark the formal release. — Staff Reporter

Attempt to robbery: three held

Thiruvananthapuram: The Museum police have arrested three persons on the charge of attempt to robbery. Sub-Inspector M.M. Hussain identified the accused as Prasanth Nair, 32, Unnikrishnan Nair, 40, and Vijayakumar, 38. The SI said the accused had attempted to rob a person running a wayside eatery in Vazhuthacaud on April 9. They had used swords to intimidate the trader, he said. The arrested persons were produced before the court on the charge of extortion, violation of the Arms Act and attempt to robbery. They were remanded in judicial custody. — Staff Reporter
