KOCHI: The public sector Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) sold eight lakh tonnes of Factamfos, its premium fertilizer mix, during the financial year just ended, showing a nearly 50 per cent jump in sales. During the previous financial year, the company sold 5.3 lakh tonnes of the product. The total sale of fertilizers stood at 9.82 lakh tonnes, an increase of 1.97 lakh tonnes over that of the previous financial year, said a statement from FACT here on Monday. Fertilizer sales revenue for the company during the last year stood at Rs. 1,045 crores compared with Rs. 728.27 crores in the previous financial year. Total sales turnover from all products touched Rs. 1,400 crores compared with Rs. 1,215 crores during last year. Owing to fluctuations in international market, sale of Caprolactam did not reach the expected levels, the press release said. Despite March being a lean year for fertilizer sales, FACT achieved a sale of 86,897 tonnes of Factamfos compared to 17,597 tonnes during March 2005. There was little credit sales during the month, the release said. The inventory position has improved for the company. At the end of the last year, the inventory position is 23,034 tonnes compared to the 78,263 tonnes at the end of the last financial year.
