Anweshi to campaign against Kunhalikutty

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: The Anweshi Counselling Centre in association with Stree Vedi will campaign against the UDF candidate P.K. Kunhalikutty who is seeking election from the Kuttipuram constituency.

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Anweshi president K. Ajitha said the campaign would be inaugurated on Monday by Sara Joseph, writer. The Stree Vedi alleged that it had received a message from the owner of a tourist home at Valanchery where a convention was planned to be held on the day that the premises would not be available. Under the circumstances, the campaign would be held at any centre in Kuttipuram constituency.

The Stree Vedi members said if their campaign were to be disrupted, the Election Commission would be informed of the matter.

Ms. Ajitha said a petition had been filed in the Tirur police station when they had to call off their campaign in Kuttipuram during the 2001 Assembly elections. The case had been dismissed by the Manjeri District Court. The Stree Vedi will approach the High Court on the issue, it was added.
