President, Manmohan extend greetings

NEW DELHI: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have greeted people on the occasion of Naba Barsh, Puthandu Pirappu, Rongali Bihu and Vishu.

In a message, the President said: "These festivals herald New Year and denote the underlying unity of our rich and diverse culture and strengthen the pluralistic heritage of our nation.

The Prime Minister said: "These festivals give us an opportunity to acknowledge the traditionally significant contribution of our farmers to nation-building. May these festivals bring peace, happiness and prosperity for all."
