`There is no need to panic'

BANGALORE: The city police are on a high alert following the blasts at the Jama Masjid in Delhi on Friday.

The policemen, who were badly in need of rest after the violence following Kannada thespian Rajkumar's death, were again posted at sensitive places, Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh said.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bipin Gopalakrishna said all steps had been taken to prevent untoward incidents. Asked whether there were sufficient personnel, Dr. Singh said they were managing with the available force. "I am personally supervising the security arrangements and have directed all the officers to be alert," he said. There was no need to panic, he assured the citizens.
