NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday appreciated the tremendous restraint shown by the people in the wake of the twin blasts at Delhi's historic Jama Masjid on Friday evening and asked them to stand united to defeat all those attempting to disturb communal harmony and peace. Dr. Manmohan Singh, who visited the Jama Masjid on Saturday evening, spoke to Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari and his brothers and assured them that the Government would take all possible measures to ensure adequate security. The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Delhi's Lieutenant-Governor B. L. Joshi and senior police officers, said the people should act together to defeat those who try to disturb communal harmony and attempt to destabilise the country's unity.

Dr. Singh said the Government would look into what assistance could be extended to the victims of the explosions.
Before going to the Jama Masjid, Dr. Singh visited the injured admitted to LNJP Hospital. There was tight security at the hospital where the Prime Minister spent nearly ten minutes inquiring about the condition of the injured. He spoke to a the girl who is to be operated upon. - PTI.
