Award for painting to be presented today

KOZHIKODE: The first C.P. Raman Nair Memorial Gold Medal for painting for children, instituted in memory of the noted artist and former art teacher of Zamorin's High School here by the CPR Trust, will be presented to K.V. Vijith at a programme at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery here on Monday.

Vijith won the first prize in the painting contest Greenserve Chitrolsavam 2006, organised by Green World on its premises at Vengeri, near here, on April 11.

The medal will be presented to Vijith by lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri.

The prize-winning entries in the contest, besides select paintings, will be showcased at the Akademi Art Gallery from Monday to Wednesday.

C.P. Rajasekharan, director, AIR, Kozhikode, will inaugurate the exhibition.

Mithun Murali won the first prize in the higher secondary section, K.V. Vijith in the high school section, P. Rohit in the upper primary section, J.S. Sheetal in the lower primary section and Adityan in the kindergarten section.
