EMRI taking up recruitment drive

Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) is organizing a two day programme on April 20 and 21 for recruiting Emergency Medical Technicians to work for 108 Emergency Service, according to Kakatiya University Placement Officer Prof. S. Ravi Prakash. The candidates who are interested to work for 108 Emergency Service as Medical Technicians may register at the seminar hall of University Arts &

Science College, Subedari by 9.00 am on April 20. Candidates who have completed B.Sc. (Botany/Zoology/ Chemistry/Biotech /Microbiology/ Genetics or any other life sciences combination) with at least 50 per cent marks or who have appeared for final year examinations may take part in the recruitment process. Candidates have to take a test, he said.

PG II semester exams

The MA/MSc/ MCom /M.Sc./ MTM/ MHRM/ M.Com.(FA)/ M Li Sc II semester regular, ex & improvement examinations will commence from May 2. Additional controller of examinations Dr. M.Vidyasagar Reddy said the examinations would be held on May 2, 5, 8, 11, 15 and 16. The detailed time table is being sent to the respective colleges, he added.

Free coaching

KU SC/ST remedial coaching centre is offering free coaching to the SC/ST students appearing for UGC NET/CSIR examination, according to Coordinator Dr.P Manohar.

The students who have applied for NET may submit their biodata for free coaching at the centre before April 30.

The centre is offering coaching in English, Telugu, History, Economics, Political science, Public Administration, Commerce, Management, Computer science, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Micro-Biology, Biochemistry, Geology, Sericulture, Dr. Manohar added. The classes will commence in the first week of May.

ANU

Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) authorities are planning to start a helpline for the benefit of students. Recently, a student committed suicide apparently because he could not afford to buy books to prepare for Civil Services examination. Another student attempted suicide due to personal reasons.

Timely intervention of her friends and ANU officials had saved her life. "Stress and intense competition are taking their toll on the students' mental and emotional well-being," said Campus College Principal M.K. Durga Prasad.

The helpline, which is likely to begin functioning soon, would be run with the help of a psychiatrist.

Dravidian University

Dravidian University, for the first time in the country, is launching three-tier education system for Postgraduate programmes with choice based credit system. Under this system, students are offered a five-year integrated Post graduate programme after 10+2 level aiming to build better foundation in the selected subject, followed by two years Masters Programmes in different disciplines and Post graduate Diploma, linked off-campus extended Master's programmes with practical/field work providing double degree facility.

Besides this, the university is also offering Bachelor of Education (Languages) and Master of Arts Education (Languages) under the integrated education programme.
