ENSURING SECURITY: Senior officials attached to the Special Protection Group (SPG) holding discussions with police personnel and UDF leaders at the public stadium in Thiruvalla on Sunday.
PATHANAMTHITTA: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Special Protection Group A.K. Singh visited the public stadium in Thiruvalla as part of the security arrangements for the proposed visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Thiruvalla in connection with his election campaign in the State on Wednesday. The Prime Minister is expected to reach Thiruvalla at 3.50 p.m. on Wednesday, and he will address an election meeting to be held at the stadium at 4 p.m., according to the UDF election office sources. The SPG official also inspected the helipad at the Devaswom Board College grounds at Parumala, later. He held discussions with Thiruvalla Dy.SP Sunil Jacob, Circle Inspector Reghuvaran Nair, and the UDF leaders in the district. The leaders said that the UDF candidates in various Assembly constituencies in Central Travancore would attend Wednesday's election meeting in Thiruvalla.
