Woman electrocuted

SALEM: Nagammal (45) of Arasamarathu Pudur village was electrocuted when she accidentally touched a power cable near Kondalampatti here on Saturday.

TNEB staff dies

An employee of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, who sustained severe injuries in a road accident and was admitted to the Salem Government Medical College Hospital, died here on Sunday.

The police said Kuzhanthaisamy (45) of Mettur sustained head injuries when a van hit him near Nangavalli here on Friday night.

Arrested

The Prohibition and Enforcement Wing personnel arrested four persons, including a woman, on charges of smuggling liquor from Karnataka here on Sunday. Following complaints that persons were smuggling liquor from Karnataka, the police personnel conducted a vehicle check up on Four Roads and Five Roads. They intercepted two vehicles and found 25 liquor bottles smuggled from Karnataka.
