Inadequate water supply hits Ammapet areas

Plugging of pipelines remains unattended to for weeks

SALEM: A number of residential colonies in Ammapet area are getting scant water supply, thanks to the unplugged leaks in the distribution pipelines of the Salem Corporation.

According to residents, the Corporation officials are paying little attention to the leaks in the pipelines. For instance, the leak occurred near Kamarajar Arch on Thiru.Vee.Ka Road in Ammapet remains unattended for more than two weeks.

The residential colonies in Ammapet area are being supplied with water once in a week. Normally the civic administration should supply water to the area once in four days. "But rarely the Corporation ensures a regulated water supply to the area.

The leak has further reduced the quantity of water supplied to the area," residents said.

"We have complained about the leak to the Corporation Zonal Office in Ammapet but to no avail.

The civic officials pass through the Thiru.Vee.ka Road very frequently. But they seem to be least bothered to plug the leak," they said.

Complaints to higher officials

Tired of complaining to the officials in the Ammapet zone, residents have taken this issue to the higher officials in the Corporation.

But the repeated representations of the residents are yet to fetch any fruitful results.

When asked, the Corporation officials said they would immediately plug the leak.
